Closed Head Injury

Often the family and friends of patients with closed head trauma do not understand the psychological isolation and suffering of their loved one. A Family Center patient wrote the following poem describing his constant struggle:

      I'm so frustrated dare I think
      That my brain has a missing link;
      I'm so frustrated dare I say that
      That while the tide ebbs I stay at bay;
      I'm so frustrated I do beseech
      That often there are thoughts I cannot reach;
      I'm so frustrated I'm often in a haze
      That it feels like my mind is all a maze;
      I'm so frustrated I do proclaim
      That most of the time I feel I am to blame;
      I'm so frustrated I do profess
      That my thoughts inextricably are all a mess.
